Mastering in Ableton. Compressor Waves C1

Let us learn to set up the parameters of a sidechain-compressor Waves C1 comp sc. This is one of the plugins, which I often use when mastering my tracks. I use it to add some certain dynamical pumping feel to the track. I also must add here, that this plugin can be used not in all cases, not in any track. In some cases using this plugin can lead to unwanted volume level duckings of your master sound.

Nowadays I cannot imagine a mastering or mixing process without an oscilloscope - a vst plug-in, that display a graphical waveform of the playing sound. This habit came to me after using Sound Forge software, where I usually edit my samples. So waveform view is very familiar for me to understand some sound characteristics. It allows us to see some specific sound details like compresion ratio, amplitude, peak values, which cannot be heard by ears.

In this article I will tell about one method to control your mix using a built-in Ableton's spectrum analyser. I use it while mastering every my track. The one of the most important requirement of mastering process is a presence of a big number of different sound monitors for your music. The more monitors you have to listen to your masters, the more probability that you will make a correct mastering to your tracks.
